SET FREE Kids

April 11, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Set Free Blog

 WOW!  Kids are great!  They are so curious and creative!  We are preparing for Easter and  we have been learning about Jesus Christ’s Crucifixion and Burial.  Next Saturday night service we will be learning about His Resurrection.  After Easter we will learn about his Ascension. Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and is preparing a place for us! Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14: 2-3

At SET FREE Kids we alternate a lesson with an activity each week.  They also receive a prize for memorizing their weekly short verse of Scripture.  The kids are learning and they love the interaction.  It’s so fun to see how proud they are with their projects!

We are so blessed to have the opportunity to share in their lives.  It’s wonderful to see these little ones learning about Jesus and what God has done for them!   There is nothing like the laughter and smile of a child.  Their enthusiasm and excitement is contagious!

We invite you to join us in our SET FREE Saturday Night Services at 6:30PM at 4314 N. Romero Rd., Tucson AZ 85705.  The Children, ages 4 through 5th grade, will participate with their families during the praise and worship music, then they will move with us to the fellowship hall for our lesson or activity.  Then the rest of their family will join us after the service for refreshments in the fellowship hall.

Please continue to keep SET FREE Kids Children’s ministry in your prayers.  May God use us to reach and teach these little ones how much God loves them!

I know God will answer

February 14, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Set Free Blog

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God.  Bend down and listen as I pray.  Psalm 17: 6 NLT

I love that!  It’s so awesome to know that a mighty and powerful God will answer my prayers.  Little me on this big  planet in this huge universe.  I love to think about Him bending down to listen to my prayer because even though I am small in this world, I am important to Him.  He wants to hear from me.  He tells me so over and over in the scripture.

Jesus told the disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.  Luke 18: 1  NIV

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  Ephesians 6: 16   NIV

Success in training to be more like Christ.

Do you want to experience God’s prosperity in your life?  Be in God’s word daily.  Don’t let a day go by without taking the time to think about Him, to think about who He is, to think about what He has done for you, and to think about what He is doing for you right now.  When we follow God’s word we are successful.

Joshua 1: 8  Do not let this Book of the Law depart from you mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and sucessful.

Prayer, prayer, prayer is key to our relationship with God.  If you have a need, ask God for it.  God always has our best intrest at heart, God always provides what we need.  Not always what we want, but what we need.  He provides for His children and their needs.  If you don’t ask you may not receive.  Be patient, wait on God.  He will give us what we need in His time.

I am so grateful God counts me as one of His children.  As beleivers we are truly blessed.  Now I just have to remember to rest in the peace of knowing my life and my future are in God’s hands and He will provide for me.  He knows of all dangers and pot holes in my life before they are even there.  I know He will provide for my needs even when I have no idea how things can possibly turn around for good.  All I have to do is ask in faith and have patience.  (That’s the hard part)

Preparing for children

February 03, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Set Free Blog

Jesus taught us to cherish our children.  Luke 18: 16  “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”  In fact this sentiment is repeated in Matthew 19: 14, and Mark 10: 14.   God has blessed SET FREE as we are preparing for the “SET FREE Kids”  children’s ministry.

We have received the supplies for the SET FREE Kids classes.  We are in the process of sorting and gathering everything we need to start.  We have completed our background checks and are going for our fingerprinting tomorrow.  This is all very exciting!

Please be praying forus as we begin touching the lives of youngsters.  Pray for the children, the church and the funds to supply the activities and refreshments.  Your prayers are much need and appreciated.   May we impact the children of  Tucson for God’s glory!

Thank you for your love and support!  Sheri

Forgiveness

January 24, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Set Free Blog

Forgiveness literally means “to let go”.

Forgiveness has been a personal battle for me. I have had some terrible things happen to me as I grew up.  I made some terrible choices that had tragic results as well.  For a long time I carried anger, hurt and pain.  I was angry with those that hurt me and I blamed myself for getting into some bad situations.  I knew God forgave me, but I still blamed myself.  A few years ago I finally got it.  God had forgiven me!  God gave me the ability to forgive those that hurt me!

The service on Saturday was on the subject of  forgiveness.  This is some of what was covered and I have seen it as true in my own life

The Greek word for forgiveness is, aphiemi, which means “to let go”.  It is to let go of any resentment, any anger, and letting go of all those feelings of revenge and giving them to God.  Forgiving others is an act of our will, a difficult and disciplined decision to love the sinner while hating the sin.  Forgiving others is an act of the will, unconditional  and it’s a choice.   I forgive whether I feel like it or not.  Matthew 6: 14.

Forgiveness is wiping the slate clean.  We need to freely forgive those that hurt us.  It doesn’t necessarily mean to forget what happened or minimize the seriousness of the offense against us.  It doesn’t mean giving the person who hurt us complete trust.  They may not be trustworthy.  Look for change.  This may take time.

Let go of all the feelings of resentment, anger and revenge.  Let go of the feelings of blame you may feel against yourself as well.  Give it all to God.  If we dwell on it we are not believing God has the ability to forgive us.  We are calling Him a liar.  Psalm 103: 12.

Remember our battle isn’t really against others.  Its against the spirits of darkness.  Ephesians 6: 12,  for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

God is ready to forgive us, forgive immediately and forgive completely.
(Psalm 86: 5,  1John 1: 9, Psalm 103: 12)

Thank you God for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, to give Himself in my place.  I don’t deserve to have life eternally with you.  I have sinned.  But Jesus died in my place paying the penalty for me.  I am now declared “Not Guilty”.  My sins are all forgiven forever.  Help me forgive those who have hurt me,  just as you have forgiven me for the things I have done wrong.  I ask this in the name of your son, Jesus Christ, Amen.
